Belo Horizonte Video

Found it!

Aaron found a great video that highlights Belo Horizonte and different places around town. Some of which we've actually been to!

Enjoy!

Belo Horizonte Brasil

Brazil - Here We Come!

After our fabulous Florida vacation, it was time to drive to Miami Airport and head to Brazil.

Miami Airport is about four hours south of where we were in Florida. So we needed a vehicle to get us, and all our luggage there. No small task considering we have 12 checked luggage bags and 8 carry on items between the five of us.

No joke.

Here's the mini-van packed to the gills.

Charlotte tucked into her seat.

Tetris in real life.

Made it to Miami Airport and our terminal!

FLORIDA! Mostly photos

We figured that we have no where to sleep at our home. Our stuff is on it's way to Brazil, but certainly will not be arriving any time soon (See Post #1 re: paperwork), so we mind as well vacation!

Thank you to Mary and Rick for putting us up in their Florida getaway house! We had a ton of fun and REALLY enjoyed the sunshine!!!

LOTS of fun Florida Photos to enjoy below!

Some fun photos of us heading to Florida!

Thanks to Brent Elowsky and Chris Turpen for helping us get to the airport with all our bags and things. A truck and a full-size van had to get us there!! :)

Home Away from Home...Away from Home...?

Let me just say that Homewood Suites by Hilton ABSOLUTELY ROCK!

We were there a wonderful four nights whilst the move was going on and it was truly a great experience.

1. Free food. It doesn't get much better!

2. Indoor pool. With the kiddos, it's like hitting gold in the Yukon!

3. Mini kitchen. Complete with plates, cups, sharp knives, pots, and a mini-dishwasher!!

4. Housecleaning comes every day!

5. This particular hotel was located a mere 4 miles from our home at Maple and Crooks.

How had I never known this existed before?

Pool photos!

Moving Day(s) - Like Sands Through The Hourglass...

What was amazing to me about Moving Day, is the large amount of stuff we still had in our home. We had done SO MUCH WORK to get rid of and organize all this stuff, and here come three burly dudes and multiple trucks/crates to still haul away all this stuff.

Stuff.

Stuff for your hair, stuff for your floor, stuff for your kids closet, stuff in the basement, stuff from 20 years ago, stuff from 2 days ago.

Stuff.

Since we've started this endeavor, this whole STUFF thing has really gotten under my skin. I am trying my best to get rid of unused STUFF and no longer purchase random things. As Aaron and I were throwing out STUFF, all I could see were $$.

We probably threw away ten's of thousands of dollars of STUFF!

What a waste.

ANYWAY - Here's some moving day photos. Note the snow...this will be important in a later post. :)

Piles are very important on moving day. Here's Izzy doing some homework among the piles.

The boxes to pack up our stuff have become our artwork and decoration. At least the browns are complimentary!

Yup! Piles of stuff we actually like and wanted to keep.

Here's the luxurious Elowsky Stuff Ocean Crate.

SUPER SPECIAL THANKS to Aunt Steph and Uncle Ryan watching ALL the cousins for the weekend before the move. They had such a blast, the kids wanted to go back on Sunday night! Here's what Izzy and Max looked like after Aaron picked them up from the House of Fun Times.

Char, however, did NOT fall asleep on the ride home. As Aaron said, "Char did not stop talking about how much fun she had from the moment we drove out of Ryan and Steph's driveway all the way until we pulled into ours."

QUICK! Pack up the house!

Before we really started getting ready to go to Brazil - we had a party!!!

Thanks to everyone who made it out that day! It was nuts, but SO SO SO great to see you all! The girls were THRILLED to see their friends and receive cards and email addresses.

And thanks to Les Gouvia who made the absolutely BEST food around to help us all party even more happily! Thanks Les and Demitart catering!! (I can't believe I don't have pictures of all that delicious food - oh yeah! It didn't last long enough for me to photograph! :) )

Then we really started packing, or purging I say. A big Shout Out to all the Ninth Street Neighbors who tolerated our incredibly large garbage pick-up weeks. It is amazing how much stuff one family can accumulate.

Seriously.

Look around your house, right now, and decide one of these four things FOR EVERY ITEM YOU SEE:

Do Not Pack = Trash or Donation by the way.

All I could think of when these beauties showed up in the mail is the George Carlin shtick on 'Stuff'. YouTube it sometime, I think it's about 20 minutes, but absolutely HILARIOUS!

So Abby went into Super-Duper-Over-Achiever-Planner Mode. Which looked a little something like this, but with more lists. (Included the cool outfit, and probably the same amount of blood.)

Aaron looked a little different. I could sense some concern, maybe some fear. A little confusion on all the lists hanging around and what exactly they all meant.

I called in The Troops for help! Fearless Melissa Boldt and Organizer Jane Marcinkowski! These two ladies totally helped pack up and organize all the stuff that was left!

Next, it was packed up over the course of a couple days and put into an AIR crate to be shipped via airplane, a sea crate for a lovely cruise to Brazil, into a storage facility in The States for safe keeping, or into our luggage bags.

Whew!

Brazil - WOW! How'd that happen?

Since I'm a bit behind in the whole writing the Brazil story thing: here's the Cliff's Notes version of things.

1. Sometime January 2014 we thought "Hmmmm...we need a change. What should we do?"

2. Sometime thereafter Chrysler said to Aaron, "Would you be interested in going to Brazil for a job there with Fiat? We'll give you and your wife a free week there to go check it out and see if it's your cup of tea. Interested?"

3. The next day Abby replied to Aaron, "A free week in Brazil without the kids?!?! Heck YEAH we'll go!!" :)

4. Paperwork, paperwork, paperwork...and some more paperwork.

5. Abby & Aaron go to Brazil in October 2014 and say "AWESOMESAUCE!"

6. Paperwork, paperwork, waiting.....more paperwork.

7. APPROVED! You are GOING!

8. Paperwork, paperwork, paperwork.

9. You need to get ready and leave the USA NOW!

10. We go to Florida for a week.

11. We fly from Miami, FL to Belo Horizonte, Brazil - and WHAAA LAAA

12. Elowsky's in Brazil!
